Foster Care to Success (FC2S) gives you the opportunity to support college-bound foster youth through their Academic Success Program. They match student participants with trained, volunteer adult coaches who take an active interest in their lives and education through supportive communication. If you can make a one-year commitment to offer encouragement and guidance to three or four students, at least twice a week (via telephone, text messaging, Facebook, email and/or Skype), then being an Academic Success Coach may be for you. The program generally requires between one to three hours of dedication per week. According to FC2S guidelines, “in order to be a coach, you must be 25 or older, complete an initial application and interview, pass a background check, and participate in comprehensive online training. Once you are matched with students, you submit online reports twice a month”. Foster youth need the support of caring adults in order to thrive.
