The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) is the nation’s largest child welfare organization. CWLA is membership based and has nearly 800 public and private child-serving agencies in the United States. CWLA provides “support and resources for proven programs, better coordination of services, more efficient program management, and more effective service delivery”. CWLA helps improve the lives of millions of children nationwide. CWLA also provides access to online courses for child welfare and human service workers, clinicians, supervisors, and managers, in order for them to keep up with the latest developments in the field. Courses may allow for continuing education credits through national accrediting organizations. According to the CWLA, it is critical that youth are given sufficient resources to help them in the aging out process. In this way, hardships associated with aging out, such as homelessness, unemployment, poor education, health issues, and early parenthood might be avoided. CWLA offers a partial list of resources to help transitioning youth: www.cwla.org/programs/fostercare/agingoutresources.htm For a comprehensive look at what CWLA has to offer, please visit: www.cwla.org/
